Mate Act Now Climate Change Poster

BRIEF

In response to the 2019/20 Australian bushfires, and recontextualised by the global outbreak of COVID-19, MATE ACT NOW, curated by Chris Flack, is a protest for the digital generation. A co-ordinated response from over 250+ designers, from some of the world’s top creative studios to drive climate action.

SOLUTION

On Earth Day 2020, LJB Studio’s response, Less Is More Cool is designed to encourage people to; use less, waste less, buy less: in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions — therefore cooling down the planet.

Greenhouse gases — such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) — are the leading cause of the earth's rapidly changing climate (1). We know that the planet has warmed by an average of nearly 1°C in the past century, with 16 of the 17 warmest years on record have occurred since 2001, with 2016 being the warmest yet (2). As the planet continues to warm, climate patterns change — thus resulting in more extreme weather, more widespread species loss, sea levels rising and more rainforests dying. If emissions continue to rise at current rates, we’ve only around a decade before 1.5°C of warming is inevitable and we face climate breakdown.

That’s why we must act now.

IMPACT

The good news? We can do something about it. Cutting down on emissions is simple: less plastic, less energy use, less food waste, less water use, drive less, less food miles, less non-recyclable waste, choosing to buy less — less is more cool.
