More Trees Please Exhibition Print
BRIEF
In order to tackle the mothership that is Climate Change and engage new minds with the Climate Crisis, GungHo, a Sustainable British fashion brand, set out to host an exhibition with artwork aiming to incite conversation and stimulate debate, in a positive way.
SOLUTION
Sophie at GungHo approached us to create an A2 piece of artwork relating to Climate Change in a way that feels personal to us. With a passion for sustainable print and knowledge in how trees help to make vital contributions to both people and the planet, we designed our artwork around encouraging more tree planting 🌱.
Trees are one of the most effective strategies at tackling climate change. Not only for providing clean air and water, a source of food and medicine, trees also contribute to soil health, conserve biodiversity and respond to climate change. A recent study ‘The Global Tree Restoration Potential’ shows that our ecosystems could support an additional 0.9 billion hectares of continuous forest – that’s equivalent to planting 500 billion trees. Such a change has the ability to cut the atmospheric carbon pool by 25%.
The typographic artwork has not only been designed to inspire people join in on this important climate crisis movement to plant more trees but the text coverage on the A2 print takes up 25% – demonstrating the powerful impact that trees have on mitigating climate change.
IMPACT
Over 100 pieces of artwork have been created for the ‘Climate Change March’ exhibition – all of which have been printed locally to save on carbon emissions. Due to Coronavirus this has now been postponed. Once the exhibition opens its doors at The Boiler House on Brick Lane, all prints will be autioned – with all funds being donated to Friends of the Earth (a charity that focuses on Climate Change).
To increase the awareness of this important message, organic tote bags and organic cotton t-shirts have been added to the collection – available to buy via LJB Studio TeeMill Shop – a print-on-demand service reducing waste.
